55bloke
Went to the Custom Car Show on Saturday. Excellent show, though amazingly few people there! Some stunning cars- not shite in any way, but think there's a few on here who'll appreciate them.Did think the car park might be a good place for autoshite spotting, but very little of interest:A couple of Yank campers.A pair of Veedubs from the same year. Not usually a fan of more recent Mercs, but this is a stunner! The show it's self had two areas- the real show queens were tucked up inside, the more usual stuff outside:-I was rather impressed by this Astra- much more subtle than the usual treatment.Absolutely lovely P5Whoever is responsible for this abomination should be shot!! In my opinion anyway! Not at all sure what to make of this!! I thought the fenderless look was illegal? This inoffensive looking Avenger..............was packing nicely installed V8 power. 55bloke
Moving indoors, we find the REAL stars. Have to admit, these are the kind of cars I fantasise about!! Loved' em ever since I saw my 1st copy of Custom Car, 30odd years ago!! '29 Ford Model A van'32 Ford Model B roadster'32 Ford Model B 3-window coupeanother '32 Ford Model B 3-window coupe, this one un-chopped'33 Ford 3 window coupeStunning '46 Chevy pick upAstonishing '47 Ford "woodie." The woodwork was breathtaking!Lovely Ford V8 PilotAbsolutely amazing late '40s Humber Pullman. Started life as a 4-door sedan! Had it's roof removed and a one-off convertable hood made, and a V12 Jag under the bonnet!!! One of many Ford Pops, this about the best, I thought. Proving you CAN get a V8 under the (original steel) bonnet without resorting to major bulkhead butchery, or driving from the back-seat!Stunning '56 Chevy Belair 2 door hardtop.Mean-looking '57 Chevy Belair 2 door sedanVery subtle '55 Ford Zephyr..............with a V8 that looks like it belongs there.equally subtle Mk 2 Zephyr High-line...............with a V8 that also looked right at home. I have MANY more pics, but probably pushing my luck posting these!!
bigstraight6
Mind blowing pics 55bloke, the Humber Pullman is just an incredible creation But, the high riding MK3 Zodiac nearly made me sick You have to admire the skill and workmanship that has gone into most of those vehicles though, in a slightly different league to the shit Barried up Corsa's you see at the local McBurgers carparks

Totally share your views- I had a feeling you'd be horrified by the Mk 3!! Looking it over it appeared to be a pretty sound shell, no signs of holes in the sills or under the wheel arches, but the door bottoms were full of filler, and it had dings all over it! Sacrilage!! Have to admit, I don't share Your enthusiasm for that P5 Rover though!

When you were 25bloke? These are amazing like real life Micro Machines / Hot Wheels cars! These aren't the sort of thing I hanker after myself - not to own anyway - but they look fabulous all the same - just to stare at & admire. Not sure I could pick a fave, but if I was pinned down.....  Mean-looking '57 Chevy Belair 2 door sedan It would have to be this
Spottedlaurel
The 'inside' stuff is great, but like Reg it's the Avenger which appeals to me most.If only they hadn't gone for a 2dr conversion on the Mk2 Zephyr...
marinast
Loving that Avenger, it must have a power to weight ratio to match a McLaren F1!My other fave is that Mk2 Zeypher (GFL758), no gash wheels, a V8 engine and a understated paint job, a fantastic period tool. 55bloke
If only they hadn't gone for a 2dr conversion on the Mk2 Zephyr... Quite agree! Pointless, and destructive. Spoils an otherwise superb car. Still, each to their own, I guess.
