MrRegieRitmo
I can see that the Santana & that Carina are as alike as Red Leicester & Stilton so feel a bit of a plank now!As I said first time, I can see how you could confuse the two...Ignore details like door handles and wheels, and tell these two appart: I'm sure you're not the only one. You're certainly no plank, Sir Regie!Ta Joe I feel alot better now That's the flavour we seemed to get all our MkI 626s in over here in Blighty! Well I didn't know that! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled when I get back there. You'll do well to, they're not something you see everyday, I think somebody had one in their spotted thread not too long ago.....Mr Rootes Arrow maybe? We had that style of 626 you snapped (MkII ?) in all flavours, saloon, hatch, estate & coupe, but the MkI 626 had a limited appeal over here as I don't think we were offered it in all variations! Hirsty: Maybe it's just me, but I'm not getting your pics today.I am further away than most...It's not just you, they took a while to appear to me too, maybe they're quite meaty pictures!? ^ Thats the 3 door 323 that the UK got in tiny numbers - ever seen one?Any relation Yes they do crop up from time to time, I think there is one on SL's spotted thread, they remind me of the generation of 323 after that one meets a Honda Insight. Why didn't they hit it off over here, just cos they were ugly or were they just a stop gap car? Allegro / 305 combo is a top notch spot!

Mr_Bo11ox
Amazing to think that that Allegro started off getting nailed togethre by whining brummies and now it is in Thailand. How on earth did it get there!
KruJoe
' Hirst: Getting your pics ok now - maybe a prob on OJC.com yesterday. Regie: I see what you mean about the Allegro/Tina back ends. It's funny to think how we put things together when we were little spotters. The only example I can remember right now is this pair: and Is it just me? Thought so.You'll all know by now I've got a thing for back lights. But the Thais are very helpful with their habit of parking nose-in... ^ With those lights, it must be a Laser. Reminds me of a Mk2 Orion! These are unusual - JDM-spec I guess? ^ The grille was shinier than normal, too. But I can't find the pic now.I did take one honest! Very cleverly done: Though I don't know why anyone would. I see those Corolla lights on all sorts. Why go to all this effort?: A fully blended bodykit and a fibreglass top from something else grafted on. And those back lights on the wrong sides! They're from one of these I think: Truly hideous. See that black Nissan saloon? ^^That's a recent Pulsar-based "Sunny Neo". They often have that "Young" badge on the boot - dunno what that means. Remember this: See the Probe-esque lights? They were a give-away for me.As was this Mitsubishi 3000 GTO Amazing to think that that Allegro started off getting nailed togethre by whining brummies and now it is in Thailand. How on earth did it get there!Look what I got! Is that an original colour?I may well be wrong, but Allegros might have been made in Oz alongside the Minis...? There are more ADO16s and Minis here than Agros, but still not many. And I don't know if they were brought from GB or DownUnder.Love the stance on this on this un: I'd love to make it "Catch of the Day", but we already had this on page 3: So the CotD title goes to this: Looks just like a Kia-shite-MPV, but the badges: WTF? And a rare Jesus fish, too! (Buddhist country, and all.)Googled it when I got home. Its a Kia Carnival, rebadged and sold by NAZA as a Ria (not Rio) in Malaysia only. It's on Chiang Mai plates, too. Strange one. Just thought - isn't "Nazaria" the name of some war-torn part of Palestine?Sorry to finish on that - I hope there's something you like up there ^.^ KJ
MrRegieRitmo
I should have guessed the GTO - I acknowledged they looked like Probe lights but I couldn't think what else had them.....darnit!That Kia people carrier was called Sedona over here, dad had one 3 cars ago. Guest
Can just make out the sticker there which shows it is an early one - best sticker ever, if you're down that way get a better photo of it! Basically it shows the performance specs of it, so it reads something like "POWER: 280PS/5000RPM" etc. Very cheesy and I love it.
KruJoe
Now see to me that looks like a widened Innocenti Mini... You mean this: Maybe...But that to me that looks like a Talbot Samba or a Lancia Y10 with a sloping window! I've often thought the lights on these look the same: and But I suspect I'll be alone again with that one ...best sticker ever, if you're down that way get a better photo of it! Very cheesy and I love it.It's well out of town, so I tried a bit of zoom'n'crop: I've always loved that, too. Hirst - I got this today and thought of you and your new toy: Looks like a Galant to me...^ Does the famous beige beauty share its face? ^ And one for Michiel: You like? Remember this baby? I got the side-light-less front end today - as described! More of the usual: I really liked this one: But they're still relatively common here, so this had to be "Catch of the Day": Especially after drooling over the red one on the other forum Hope you all approve of my selection...?? MrRegieRitmo
I can instantly think of 2 people on here who will love the Celeste & the BX (Mike D & Stoterstangen90).You're not alone in anything you say about rear light clusters. KruJoe
NorthAmerican and early japanese base model k10's came with square lights like that, though that one doesnt look quite rightI think it's all original, but the gaps around the lights look huge!Maybe it should have plastic shrouds like an old Starlet or early Metro, or maybe it's just had a bit of a bump? It's eyes are looking in different directions: Regie: Now that to me is pure Panda (except for the indicators).Just look at the bonnet! Another I've remembered:Do this... ...and this... ...share rear lights? I'm glad I'm not completely alone with this strange fixation. Mitsubishi Strada lights again, on a Liteace? ^ these have 4-stud wheels - do they use car running gear They're much smaller than Hiaces. Fantasy shite? F O R D ?? Please excuse these attempts at artiness - this one was at the school after a shower: But one of my finer photographs, if I do say so myself: ^ What's that in the background... ...returning the compliment: ^ I snapped this little BM before, next to that red Colt hatchback in a garage. Chiang Mai isn't a big city, so everywhere I go, I spot shite I've snapped before. Unknowingly cool: The University has been great for spots lately - it's close to the school so I can pop out for half an hour if I'm free. Also, there's loads of shite parked up with no people/traffic during the day. Perfect! I think there were some great spots today and an unusually shite choice for my "Catch of the Day" Holden Camira estateThis shared it's back end with our Mk2 Cav wagon, did it not? That's all folks! Spottedlaurel
Stop with the crazy updates! It’s all too much to take in.Yes, Liteace shares basic running gear with Corolla and even Starlet, UK ones have the 5K engine which is a 1500 version of the lovely little pushrod 2K 1.0, 3K 1.2 and 4K 1.3 family. 5K is used as an upgrade for old Starlets etc, Racer86’s white 1000 has one in it. I think there is an even bigger version, but not sure if it’s much of a revver. The 3K in my old Starlet was a delight. It might be that in Japan they were sold as Corolla/Sprinter van, or certainly through that dealer chain, in the same way that the Vanette was sold there as Cherry Vanette or Sunny Vanette and had similar running gear to the cars.BTW, about the Allegro – weren’t some built in Belgium too? Volksy
The Camira was Holdens version of our Chavalier, availiable in saloon and estate, never saw a hatch version whilst I lived in NZ. Based on a floorpan (J-car?) shared with loads of GM tat.. i.e. Vauxhall Chavalier Holden Camira Chevrolet Cavalier Cadillac Cimmaron Daewoo espero Think even the later Saab 900/9-3 are on that platform too.. So no matter what country you went to, if you hired a mid range car from someone, it always seemed to be a Chav in some sort of party frock!! r.welfare
Don't forget the Pontiac Sunbird/Sunfire, Buick Skyhawk and Isuzu Aska!900/9-3 ran on a modified Calibra platform. The Yanks struggled on with Mk2-Cav based hardware until 2003. They even convinced Toyota to sell a RHD Cavalier, some of which I have seen imported to the UK and for sale for silly money by deluded Yank fans...Agree that the Camira never came as a hatch, I took pictures of both early and late (like the pictured estate) models while I was in Oz. When first released the cars were poorly assembled and the 1.6 engine struggled with auto and a/c, so the cars were slated. The later ones with the injected 2.0 motor are apparently much better! gtd2000
I've not been keeping up with this thread in the past week much due to my impending move back to the other side of the pond and all that... Now in mitigation I'l like to offer the following test: This might be a bit like the Opel Rekord P2 scenario - what is this car (it's my GF's) mosyt folks in the UK have probably never seen one or even heard of it before and they are not that common over here either Interior: Dash: Front View: Clue..Although this might seem off-topic it's actually very much on-topic

gtd2000
Ah, the hastily-renosed Impreza known as the Saab 9-2X!Yes indeedy ;)Actually, there are a substantial number of changes not including the front end.
