This has probably been done already on this thread, but AFAIK these were the first photos of this place we ever saw, they appeared on here way back in 2009, linked from John (formerly Rootes_arrow_1725, the forum member who led me to this place all those years ago), hope you don't mind me putting them here John...

Scrapped, but evidently it got dragged out as it passed MOTs in 2012 and 2013.

Untaxed since 2013, but no MOT history. I assume the tax date is a keeper change. i do recall seeing it for sale, sad that it seemingly fell off the radar.

There is also a back lot of garages, I doubt this has anything in it.

Sad that only one car survives so far.

Cavalier gets my vote too....I'd bung a few pence into a pot.

Not at all MR O. Passed by again a couple of weeks ago and yes the Cavalier / Maestro / Rover remain. Met the site owner briefly not long ago but he was busy on the site as it had been broken into and the cars had been opened / bonnets up. I assume pikeys looking for batteries etc. He kept the site quite tidy but when I passed by it was over grown. Practical classics readers will recognise the grey Skoda that's back on the road from here as its been featured in there where its mentioned that it was not cheap to buy.

Happy to put some coin in to help save one / all if we can too.

An as I said on the other thread I'd be willing to lend a hand with removal of the cars if needed. At the moment I still have a ridged bar borrowed from a friend who still hasn't picked it up and my Cavalier has a working towbar too. So can help with pulling any car(s) free plus bring my crappy jack / axle stands, tools etc.

Pictures again from the other thread that I posted up below taken from yesterday. The garage is looking pretty run down now with the front overgrown in places and is also partly hiding the Rover from passers by.

Me and my old man have followed Chasetown football club over the years and I remember in my early teens going to an away game at Gresley Rovers who play not far from this place, and on the way home noticing this abandoned garage/dealership as we drove past, noting how out-of-place the cars seemed to look.

I am now 32, and I am genuinely amazed every time I read that this place is still there and hasn't been flattened and built over.  Surely it could be the base for an Autoshite museum.

I'm willing to put money in too. Especially if I can be custodian of something for a bit, and/or take one to FOTU. The Maestro appeals most I think, followed by the Cav. I don't think I can store a car (I can in theory but I'm pushing boundaries as it is), at least not long term.

That garage looks like I’ve built it. It’s probably only a matter of time before it goes up in flames when the local yoofs are bored in summer holidays.

I’d try the houses next door, they might have his number. I can’t for a minute understand why he wants the earth for them, if he turns down £200 or whatever now then it’ll be £150 from the scrapman.

Well, I should have said assumed retention as the plate is unknown to both the vehicle check and MOT history gov websites, which usually only happens when the plate has been disassociated with a vehicle, as even long scrapped vehicles show up on the MOT checker.

That's incorrect I'm afraid. Computer says no on my old Vectra V167 ELD which was scrapped by Copart, together with one I had bits off V616 POF. Some sort of maladministration I think, a box not filled in on the COD. Any result that is returned as such by the DVLA usually means it's scrapped or had a plate change/plate removed and that's unlikely with either of the above.

What I should have emphasised is that the lack of MOT result/lookup on any general vehicle enquiry (cartell for example) for the vehicle suggests the plate is on retention. Fully aware the vehicle check deletion means scrappage.

I've looked up thousands of plates from spotting so get the gist of it.

The more I think about it, the more I'd especially like to see the Cav saved.

I have the contact number for the owner, if required.

I'm assuming that no-one is in a position to step forward and give a temporary home to one of these? As said before, I'm miles away in Cornwall, and don't have space or facilities.

I would be more than happy, however, to handle the donations side of things, and to sort any other paperwork.

Yes. I find the 1.4 Cav both repellant and strangely alluring.

Come on let's not get into a slanging match over it chaps, there no harm done and I'm sure no offence was intended by anyone.

As Dick Longbridge mentioned about the problem of storage. I could possibly offer storage for a single car for a week at a push not far from Swadlincote if that's of help to the cause? That is providing I can convince my Dad till someone can arrange a more permanent home.

Or if we wait till the middle of March I can store it for about 2 weeks near Walsall while my Mum and her Husband are on Holiday!

Also pretty sure my Dad has a decent spare battery that I could borrow if anyone fancies trying to get one running / driving.

If anyone wants to start a fund put me down for £10.
