Mr_Bo11ox
I'd like to see Eddy Kid make a come back and attempt to jump that line up in a bulldozer.LOZL!!!!111!hey, someones gotta love these cars, we'll be thanking these boys in 20 years time when they've got all 8 remaining examples. I wonder if they are all the sons of the fat-arsed vest-wearing builder types who traditionally drive Granadas. Check yo chrome arches!
r.welfare
I wonder if they are all the sons of the fat-arsed vest-wearing builder types who traditionally drive Granadas. Check yo chrome arches!Funnily enuff, the Hi-Viz pikeys (as seen in a disabled parking bay at a Morrisons near you - grrr) round here tend to drive Zafiras or 02-plate BMW 3-series - a Scorpio (or Omega) just ain't on for Son Of Onslow! GR8 4 CAR CREDIT COMPANIEZ though.I don't for one minute think the Scorp is a good-looking car, but the later jobs without the chrome everywhere don't look half as bad. Interesting forum then Milford - at least it's better than the Club Peugeot UK one, where nobody responds to messages AT ALL.
The Reverend Bluejeans
Agreed - a late model (dechrome/wide track) Scorp Estate looks like a good car for the £1000 you'd give for it.But there's more. Today there were two seperate Scorpio factions, one of which was Frog Face only with theb other camp taking the Mark 3 Granny in all it's glorious guises."Are you the people's front of Judea...............?" There was some superb rubbish today. I tried to get a group shot of the PT Cruiser club but couldn't stop laughing for long enough. You've never seen so many Willie Nelson lookalikes, stetsons, bad taste chrome accessories and Confederate flags. This is worth a thread of it's own. Prepare to piss yourself laughing.http://www.northerndevils.co.uk/Check out 'Glesh' on Page 2 of 'members rides'.

Mr Lobster
We all love shite here, but PT Cruisers are just plain shit.Yup, Couldn't say it better myself. Its wierd but the car is styled (and I use the term in its most flexible sense) to look like some sort of caricature of an American hotrod, then buyers go and throw armfuls of cash at the things making them look even more stupid. Surely if you wanted something looking like it had just rolled off the set of Grease you would buy a proper US car rather than this feable excuse for retro Americana? Richard
I suppose it's just the American equivalent of the BMW Mini.
Guest
I think what doesn't help is that the bits are nearly all "off the shelf" crap from some PT Cruiser specialist. If such an aftermarket didn't exist, maybe people would do something interesting or subtle with their cars.As is, they just think "ooh, chrome-effect B-Pillars" and load the cars up with utter shit, aiming for a vague guess of what 50s Americana was like, using one of those paintings with the LED lights in of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis playing pool as their sole reference point. The Reverend Bluejeans
I would imagine that since discovering this nirvana of Americana, folk from Droitwich take on an American ac-cent and take an annual trip to Burger King on Independance day. Goddamn Apple pie!Meanwhile the guy who makes the chrome PT tat is laughing up his sleeve at the wheel of his 911.Have a nice day y'all!
MrRegieRitmo
using one of those paintings with the LED lights in of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis playing pool as their sole reference point.I really dig those actually, I intend to get at least a couple for my wall as I think they're cool . Very tacky yes but such a nice idea. Not interested in ones with people in, but purely street scenes, city scapes, diners with parking lots full of T-Birds & Chevys that sort of thing. They're not all 'in your face' either, some of them can be very atmospheric & tasteful such as a misty park view with white LEDs for the street lamps & nothing more
Mr_Bo11ox
Reg, you're a brave man to admit to liking those! Fair play to ya, I would never have let on that I liked them, (if I did, which I don't BTW)They just remind me of being trapped in McDonalds with kids kicking off and running amok all around me. r.welfare
On the PT Cruiser front, I believe that GM lured away the chief designer from Chrysler with promises of oodles of cash (or all the burgers he could eat), and they've just Xeroxed his scribbles to produce the HHR: See what I mean? It's only a matter of time before GM Yoorup execs happen upon one of these PT shows, realise that Cadillac only sell 4 cars a year here and then import the bloody thing. Honestly, everyone's getting uptight about the Chinese copying everything but this is blatant - what a heap of crud! The US car industry really is dead, if this is the best they can come up with and Saturn are importing the Astra, God help 'em!
Torsten2001
I had the pleasure of having a petrol Auto PT Cruiser for a while about 5 years ago, the petrol consumption nearly bankrupted me, the performance was a cure for insomnia and the built quality was not quite up to my sons Airfix attempts, a bollox motor! Jazzy Jeff
I really like PT Cruisers. They are just the worst of everything you can ever think of, in 10 years time the awful build quality, depreciation inducing styling and Human Organ priced spare parts will have whittled them down to just a handful of survivors. Then they will become the Matra Rancho's of our time.
Mr_Bo11ox
Jeezus wept, you think you've seen it all, then.... WTF is going on with that HHR thing. Suddenly the PT kroozer looks like a classic study in automotive elegance.WHAT A SHITHEAP

The Austin 1100's with Guinness label tax disc, the rotting 105E's and of course the town Mayors FD Ventora complete with black vinyl roof. "Th'height of sophistication, duck". gtd2000
I see the PT more as a modern interpretation of this old tosh: Than any hot rod pretensions..of course Chrysler would not hope that to be the image of course
gtd2000
The US car industry really is dead, if this is the best they can come up with and Saturn are importing the Astra, God help 'em!US car industry has been "dead" for a long time, flogging outdated, revamped and rebadged tosh for donkeys years now.I'd say the US car industry is more "exciting" than ever right now - not that it says much I drove a fair amount of "American" (they're not all built there these days) cars during my time in the USA (2001~2007) and it got to the point that I'd normally request an Asian rental car when I needed one.I found that a few American cars look pretty cool from the outside but once you sit in them it's complete and utter disappointment - the 300C is a recent example of that!In the area where I am living in Holland there is a chap running around in a lowered, blackened windowed, big wheeled Dodge Ram pickup truck - presumably cruising around at 20mpg feeling cool in his pile o' shite :roll:If I hadn't had the misfortune to drive one of these piles of shite myself for thousands of miles during 2007 I might have thought it was cool as well though
fordpoplier
Then they will become the Matra Rancho's of our time. You're right on the build quality, I've driven a cople of these PT things as rentals and they rattle like hell, the earlier ones are already starting to rust quite nicely too.
