we've managed to add to our collection of aging diecast tat.

i'd actually gone to buy a Dinky 8-leg tipper with a Leyland Ergomatic cab, but on inspection it didn't really "do" it for me. so instead we got a few other odds and sods.

first off, something for kerry. a lesney Triumph motorcycle combination-

and then something a bit unsusal, these are Britons, so i guess are around 1/32 scale.

first off, a british dispatch rider, sat on a bath tub Triumph

then last, but not least, this, a Corgi Vauxhall Vellox. it has a friction motor in it, that don't work so it must be an early corgi?

i am certain it has been repainted by someone with FAR more skill than i have, as they have picked up the beauty strips on the bonnet and wings. i think its lovely.

Early Corgis like that were sold in "Mechanical"  versions with a rather weak friction motor (I think the weight of the cars probably proved a bit much).   They neatly concealed the bulk of it in a simulated differential housing on the base which was die-cast rather than stamped out.   Think most of these "M" suffix models had their own colour schemes as distinct from the free-rolling versions.

Those Britain's motorcycles are a great find - pretty scarce in that kind of complete-ness.

Hola, fans of small shite.

As promised upthread, and in common with one or two others who may also have found themselves somewhat potless by this stage in January, here's a few models which I'm looking to re-home. Some of you may recognise these as the remnants from last year's mega diecast clearout, plus there's a few others which have appeared here more recently.

Happy to post as much as you like, anywhere in the world. Discounts for multiple buys are likely to be applied in a haphazard and capricious fashion, so you may get some serious bargains if you manage to catch me in an unusually good mood.

I previously gave all-inclusive 'posted' prices, but that didn't work too well as many people wanted more than one model. So the prices quoted below are subject to postage cost on top, which currently begins at £2.85 for an online purchase of what Royal Mail terms small parcel UK postage - but this is the same regardless of whether it's one solitary model, or up to 2kg of treasure. Proof of postage will be obtained, and if you're of a worried/impatient disposition, first class and registered services are also available.

PayPal's always handy for moving money (Friends & Family option for preference, as within these pages aren't we all practically both?) but cheques, electronic bank transfers and brown envelopes stuffed with banknotes are also more than welcome.

Alles klar?

Let's go.

First up: 1/43 scale Solido #1915, Toyota Celica 2000GT A20, in 1977 Lombard RAC livery:

20180523_122645.jpg

20180523_122715.jpg

20180523_122729.jpg

20180523_122748.jpg

Model is in excellent nick, with only the decals missing on the spotlights. Some storage damage to the front of the box, annoyingly. I really do like this one, it's a nice 90s reissue of the original 70s casting - but I just don't really do rally cars and it looks out of place in my displays.

Not an easy one to find. I'm looking a tenner to part me from this one.

Next, another 1/43 Solido - #1921, a Triumph Spitfire with detachable hardtop:

20180523_122403.jpg

20180523_122435.jpg

20180523_122448.jpg

20180523_122526.jpg

I never bothered trying to put the waterslide decals on, so they're still in the box.

Model is mostly good, BUT it did have a mishap at some point which bent the windscreen back and put a crack in the lower edge of the hardtop. A drop of glue would sort the top (or not; it displays fine as is) but there's stress discoloration to the plastic A-posts which would probably require paint to make good. I know, shonky French plastics, hey?

£4 takes this one (plus post).

More 1/43 Solido - #4534, VW T1 Microbus:

20180523_123021.jpg

20180523_123043.jpg

20180523_123052.jpg

Again, mostly good but there's a paint chip to the rear n/s corner (as you can see in the pics) - but hey, what T1 doesn't need work?

£4 for this (again, discounts will apply for multibuy orders).

And the final Solido - #2135, Peugeot J9 in Hi-Viz Sapeurs Pompiers livery.

20180529_220218.jpg

More pics can be taken, but it's in good nick although may* have received some silver-pen detailing at some point. Don't think it's too awful, though.

£4.

More 1/43: a Minichamps Opel Kapitan:

20180523_121132.jpg

20180523_121203.jpg

20180523_121212.jpg

Now I dunno what happened to this, but it's lost a wingmirror and the tyres look somewhat flat. It's also oddly dusty, though I believed this one lived in its box while on display in my teenage bedroom. BARNFIND YO?

£5 takes this one home with you.

INTEREST EXPRESSED!! Slightly more modern Eurochod, now: a New Ray 1/43 rendering of a Citroen C4 in 5-dr flavour, which is actually quite decent.

20180529_220109.jpg

Say £4? Don't think it's ever been out of the box.

Also unopened: a Dodge Viper, one of those magazine partwork jobbers:

20180610_213845.jpg

Think I bought this with some intention of robbing the wheels for something else, but I've now forgotten for what exactly.

£2 takes this one.

For fans of Eastern European tat, here's some opened (but still with packaging) Russki diecast:

GAZ M20 'Pobda', in Autoshite preferred brown/beige taxi livery:

20180610_212909.jpg

20180610_212913.jpg

20180610_212926.jpg

Three of your Western capatalist pounds secures this one.

Moskvitch 420 van (some sort of electricity/radio repair thing?):

20180610_213227.jpg

20180610_213235.jpg

Again, £3

Massively heavy (well, quite substantial) GAZ 3302 security van:

20180610_213326.jpg

20180610_213335.jpg
£4 on this one, as I do still kinda like it.

And now on to the loose 1/43 stuff:

TAKEN!! Bburago Renault Clio 1 (originally with rally stickers, but I removed them):

20180610_211326.jpg

20180610_211333.jpg

£1!

GONE! A Renault Espace Mk1 by Guisval, with Emergency decals:

20180703_080053.jpg

20180703_080040.jpg

Nice clean model, which I've previously offered out at all sorts of yo-yo price points without takers.

An arbitrary £3 on this today; though again, discounts...

AWAY!! A cheeky little no-name Fiat 500 pull-back, that appears to be approximately 1/43:

20180610_211630.jpg

20180610_211633.jpg

Not a bad rendition, so possibly a repaint job, or mebbe just one for the kids?

50p, folks.

RE-HOMED!! MOAR Solido; a damaged Citroen 2CV6:

20180610_211346.jpg

20180610_211349.jpg

20180610_211353.jpg

Front windscreen rail missing.

FREE if anyone wants it (just postage, or inclusion with other models at no extra cost), or maybe it's just charity shop fodder.

PUNTED ON!!! Also FREE - banjaxed plastic snap-together model of a Fiat Campagnola:

20180610_212449.jpg

20180610_212500.jpg

20180610_212511.jpg

I've no idea why anyone would want this, but then again most people say similar things about my daily transport, sooo...

Smaller shite, older shite and random oddities, to follow later!

So then, round two...

I've already got a model each set aside for Split_Pin, MarvinsMom and Mercrocker from the last week or two, but the following smaller, older models are all up for grabsies at the quoted prices, plus postage at cost:

Goneski!! First up: a Mini-Marx Chevrolet Camaro

20180610_212521.jpg

20180610_212526.jpg

20180610_212531.jpg

This one's a bit of an oddity, as it's an early, (comparitively) detailed version of the same casting later sold under the Marx Bulldog brand, with no glazing, no base, and only a cardboard interior. Quite a small scale, it'd be on a par with early-60s Matchbox, I'd say.

I've seen these online for what seems like silly money, and also for what seems more like reasonble money.

£3, say?

BOOM!! TAKEN!! Next, another one that's rather uncommon for these shores: a Zylmex Datsun Pickup from their Dynamights range (#P319):

20190111_141346.jpg

20190111_141352.jpg

20190111_141402.jpg

This is actually pretty minty, and complete with its canopy and good unmarked brightwork. A quick peek online suggests some folks stateside are looking $15 for scratched, incomplete versions of this with wonky axles. Unboxed models in this sort of condition seem to start around the $40 mark. Yeesh.

I know I only bought it the other week, so I hope you won't think I'm ripping the absolute piss if I offer it out here at £2.

SPOKEN FOR!! Matchbox MB57 Trailer Caravan

20190111_141151.jpg

20190111_141158.jpg

20190111_141215.jpg

20190111_141237.jpg

Stickers missing, glue or summat on the roof, but axles and hitch both ok and it is complete.

50p!

SOLD!!! Motor Max 'Fresh Cherries' Dodge Aries K-series (thanks for the positive ID, Burnside!)

20190111_141251.jpg

20190111_141257.jpg

20190111_141305.jpg

Not in great nick, and missing a headlight lens too, but could be an interesting project for someone. Screw-apart base, for easy resto! I've thought about it, and I'll never do it myself.

50p!

SALE AGREED!! Matchbox Superkings Ford D-Series Security Truck (K-19):

20180610_212120.jpg

20180610_212124.jpg

20180610_212129.jpg

The combination lock door still works, and I even found the little trolley of gold bullion in the bottom of another box, so that's inside it now for anyone wishing to recreate the Brinks-Mat heist in miniature.

£1.00!

TAKEN!! Dinky Sea-King Helicopter

20180610_212344.jpg

20180610_212349.jpg

20180610_212354.jpg

In reasonable condition but requiring a replacement rotor and winch gear, is there any interest in this?

£1.50!

SPOKEN FOR!!!! Matchbox Worldsports Mazda RX-7 FD

20180529_221228.jpg

An odd one this, it's a scale that sits below the usual Superkings scale, akin to those GT Racer things they did in the 1980s, while too big for 1/43 scale... nice model, nice colour, though a few scratches have come about in storage as it doesn't have a proper protective box. Grr.

£2.00!

ON ITS WAY!!! I've also this Matchbox Loader:

20190120_214853.jpg

20190120_214917.jpg

I believe this was included in construction playsets in the 1970s. One side is quite sun-faded, but the other is still very fresh. The slider bar is complete and undamaged.

50p?

Flogged on!!! Digging deep now, here's an empty box for Matchbox Superkings Jaguar XJ6 Police Car (K-153).

20180610_214208.jpg

20180610_214202.jpg

20180610_214217.jpg

The car once in it (which chipped quite badly, as I recall) ended up being 'borrowed' for a classroom of seven-year-olds, and was not brought back when my mother retired a few years ago.

(#notbitter)

FREE to anyone who wants it (though I appreciate postage may render it less attractive, unless you want me to throw it in with some other stuff).

I have found myself on the receiving end of An Challenge.

A friend of mine in the States does mostly larger scale kits, usually race cars, and they're very good.  He knows his onions.  I mostly do piddly little 1/64 scale and whatever scale Matchbox/Lesney stuff feels like being.  So the challenge issued is that we pick out something for the other person to do, but he does small scale and I do big scale.  He'll be able to find something to interest me no bother, but my challenge is a little trickier.  Rather than sending him just one small car, I'd rather send him something in the small scale, but a bigger model.

SUVs, most pick-up trucks, Donks, and sci-fi vehicles are off limits, since whatever is picked should be something we actually want to do and he's not mega keen on that.  Age-wise, we can go all the way back to the age of steam for this one and while he does newer models, I suspect anything post 1990 isn't going to be something he finds as fun as something pre-1990.

He's okay with taking a vehicle apart to rebuild, or contructing something from a kit, and he works in both diecast and plastic.

What I'm trying to figure out is a model that's interesting to work on, with a good amount of realistic detail, and also in 1/64 or thereabouts scale.  I don't know much about what's available like that beyond the usual Matchbox/Corgi/Dinky suspects.  Last thing is we're not going silly on prices, so no daft £100+ collector items for this.

Suggestions very welcome if you have them.  There's no set deadline or theme, it's a fairly open-ended "do what you fancy" sort of challenge.

How about a K-5 racing car transporter, Vulgalor?

ac0e62f4-8701-11e6-9bf8-11dbdbd57f68.jpg

Pros:

  • Nice 1960's casting - good details
  • Keys in with his racing car related theme, which either gives you the option of adding a couple of cars to fill it with, or for him to do so, should he enjoy the foray into 1/64
  • It is 1/64(ish, I think) but not super tiny.
  • Not too rare, so ripe for modification. Also, not too expensive.

Cons:

  • Uuuum....a little too big? In which case, maybe one of these would be a better candidate?

461430.jpg

Should be easy to find one of these for pennies.

That said, if you like the idea of a K-5 transporter, here's one with no bids at £5, complete with all it's tyres and the loading ramp, which often go missing:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Matchbox-Kingsize-K5-Racing-Car-Transporter/303033614146?hash=item468e35ff42:g:ZrEAAOSwIS9cOH84:rk:1:pf:0

I'd not thought about those, and I like the idea of hiding a couple of cars inside the transporter.  I think he'd enjoy working on either of them, hard to say which he'd prefer since they're both in his spheres of interest.

Of course he would prefer the English option, since you are sending something from England.

i have been playing with Bedford TK's.

the parts that i ordered from Model Supplies arrived, so i thought i'd have a look at how the truck would look.

post-18270-0-73983700-1548334181_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-71669800-1548334294_thumb.jpg

that poxy top trail board though, well, i broke it while fiddling with the damn thing. white metal isn't very strong at the best of times, so no wonder the original diecast ones seem to all broken! thinkin well, its not something i'm bothered about it actually working, i decided to just stick the flippin' thing on to the existing tail board, i'd rather have the bit on the truck, than have the piece missing.

so the truck got pulled to bits again

post-18270-0-24459200-1548334710_thumb.jpg

then the paint got stripped off leaving me with this

post-18270-0-33413700-1548335009_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-94326700-1548335052_thumb.jpg

then some fresh paint was added

post-18270-0-88119100-1548335151_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-90116300-1548335189_thumb.jpg

i have decided to replicate the "original" livery of the trailer and the wagon. however, stripping the paint off revealed that under the blue, the tailer had originally been red and yellow, while the tractor was red under the blue, and yellow under the red! originally Corgi did ship the Bedford TK with the original style Carrimore low loader in yellow and red, so oddly enough the repainting this scrap items has reunited a tractor and trailer that were originally sold together as a set. the only change i made was to paint the back of wagon mat black, the chaissis rails , diesel tanks and engine would not be shiney with use.

post-18270-0-96180300-1548335286_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-14756600-1548335671_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-69827600-1548335647_thumb.jpg

and then it got put back together

post-18270-0-66822100-1548335739_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-18307700-1548335764_thumb.jpg

post-18270-0-69767500-1548335809_thumb.jpg

and then loaded, the Velox just happened to be to hand. and incedentally i think that is the original paint on it, as a pinky colour is the colour that the motorised versions came in.

It's worrying that I actually got an earlier train this morning, just so I could spend more time digging in the market stall's diecast crates...

And there was more new stuff...

20190125_084148.jpg

Some fairly heavily battered and incomplete 1960s Corgis, and a not-too-bad late version of a Dinky Mini Moke - with windscreen and frame intact, unusually.

I very nearly scooped them all, but - the thought of what am I even going to do with these? stopped me.

If anyone here likes the look of them at 50p, let me know and I'll skip back over at lunchtime.

(I did remember to bury them at the bottom this time.)

There were also a few HO gauge plastic Wiking and Herpa models dumped in this week, though not in great nick (missing wheels, bad repaints etc).

And yes, I bought a few...

20190125_100139.jpg

20190125_100244.jpg

That's a 1/43 Hongwell Cararama Mazda MX5, a Matchbox Superfast MB15 Lansing Bagnall Forklift, a very badly repainted Herpa HO scale Mk2 Transit, and (most unusually) a Corplast BMW E28 in a peculiar size.

The Mazda will be kept for display, the forklift for my own 'nostalgia box' (I had one of these as a kid but dunno what happened to it - and this is a good clean example) while the Transit may be repainted at some stage, if if I can figure out a way to remove the old paint without mullering the body moulding...

If anyone wants the tiny Beemer, it'll post out as a large letter for 79p - PM me your address and I'l get it over to you.
