egg
As the Norev Dauphine has already been apart with a previous owner, I thought it wouldn't hurt to pull apart again, for a clean and a bit more chrome work. Made the decision to pick out the rear number plate in chrome for better or worse. Note swirly interior! Spottedlaurel
A quick visit to a charity shop today brought initial disappointment when I found there was nothing of interest in the 20p toy car box. Seems like they're getting smart, as I then found a shelf elsewhere with a display of older diecast stuff for £1 each, 3 for £2. Really pleased to find the Majorette pair - can't recall seeing the BMW 7-series before and the Renault 5 is a replacement for the one that went missing at primary school back in 1975/76. Conelrad
A quick visit to a charity shop today brought initial disappointment when I found there was nothing of interest in the 20p toy car box. Seems like they're getting smart, as I then found a shelf elsewhere with a display of older diecast stuff for £1 each, 3 for £2. Yesterday I was in an independent charity shop and asked the volunteer if they ever had any model cars. He said they'd had some last week, but they'd sold "immediately". He didn't know what kind of models they were. It's a proper bric-a-brac for pennies place, so I dread to think what they had... Junkman

MarvinsMom
Grandson arrives and his dad's old cars come out once again!me dad's parents had something similar, a bag full of old toy cars that i and the other grand kids used to play with when visiting. the only one i remember is this, well not this one cos this is a library pic..... but a Bedford OB car transporter i wish now that i had made sure that i got it after Fred died.he passed nearly 30 years ago now and i assume that it had been my fathers, originally. most of what was in the bag was fucked, but the one of these was, as i remember damn near mint. rather annoyingly, we went to the steam fair at Scampston a couple of weeks ago, and an old boy was selling one of these in really clean, bright condition, with its loading ramp for £30..... stupidly i didn't have any money on me, so had to leave it be. the only other thing i remember for definate in the bag of toys was one of these, this time a Bedford TK low loaderthis must have been Graeham's cos it a 60's wagon, the OB is one from the 50's and there is i think 12 years between him and me Dad. i should have made sure i got this too but it got away, prehaps one day i'll get one to add to the fleet. maybe.... egg, Vantman, bolognasal spray and 5 others

155V6
A few recent car boot & charity shop finds.Really pleased with the Corgi Rockets Volvo, especially for 35p.The 2 cars with it are a Seat Malaga & Mercedes 500 SEC,both by Guisval. The long wheelbase Transit is a Lledo, the logos are for the Basingstoke Canal Society. The Majorette Renault Express is the 1st plain one I've seen. The 2CV van came from a garage sale. It's missing a headlight & a piece of the rear bumper. One rear door is glued shut,& the other is loose, but if anyone wants it,it's yours for the cost of postage. matt79
Just a thought.....have any of you guys used any websites (not including ebay) to sell diecast models?I have a large collection of models I want to shift, mostly 1/43 scale (some are older / rare models and include a large amount of 'code 3' police models). I used to sell models regularly on ebay about 10 - 15 years ago but I would rather avoid selling on ebay if possible (with the higher fees & idiot buyers the site seems to attract these days), although I realise it probably has the largest 'audience' for selling.Has anyone had success using Facebook or other sites for selling models? Thanks,Matt Datsuncog, Split_Pin and egg

artdjones
I bought the Messerschmitt in a museum called Traumwerk which houses Hans-Peter Porsche's Tin Toy Collection. Also a gigantic HO model railway which incorporates elements from German,Swiss and Austrian Railways.Herr Porsche is a grandson of the original Professor Porsche.Traumwerk is in Bavaria near Berchtesgaden. Here are a few samples of the cars in the museum:- The most impressive items were the ships. The warships have the slight element of caricature that can make tinplate more attractive than an exact scale model. 59Impala, Christine, Amishtat and 6 others

Has anyone had success using Facebook or other sites for selling models? Thanks, Matt As others have alluded to, I found myself in a very similar situation earlier this year. I looked around elsewhere (Catawiki etc) but most specialist/collectable auction sites outside of eBay seem to only want higher-end stuff (Catawiki asked for a minimum value of 80 Euros for each piece listed by new sellers, which was far beyond the stuff I was looking to shift). But I was really put off eBay selling, for the same reasons as yourself. I shifted some through various Facebook groups for model collectors but, inevitably, fell prey to scammers; although the Toy Shite group was (is) much better, attracting a few of the fine folks from here. I'd love for there to be a site for diecast as exists for vinyl collectors - Discogs, which is both a wiki catalogue and marketplace for recorded music, including rare variants etc. But I don't believe any such site yet exists. So yes, I just posted up the models I wanted to sell on here (I used my own cars thread, but I imagine this thread would be just as good if not better) and managed to find buyers for nearly all of them. For the sake of quick sales, I used eBay to find an approximate value, then knocked a bit off as shiters' discount. Initially I used 'including postage' as a draw, but ended up cutting my own throat a few times by pricing the model less than the postage, so I wouldn't recommend that! Since most folk wanted more than one model, it makes more sense to weigh the contents of the desired box of delights all together, and obtain a postage cost accordingly. Knocking a bit extra off for multiple purchases seemed to go down well here, too. That's just my tuppen'orth, but If I can assist any further, do ask! mercrocker, Split_Pin and matt79
