Shite in Miniature II

Thanks to the amazing Matchbox wikia I now know that I was wrong about my Road Repair set.

http://matchbox.wikia.com/wiki/Road_Repair_Set_(K-118/K-137)

I had the later one with the DAF and the yellow wheels, I think I've seen a photo of the Ford cab but it's an actual Transcontinental rather than an Iveco

Thanks for the heads up, that's my evenings browsing sorted.

Today’s purchases. Iveco was a bargain £1.50, the Mazda was a quid as well. Quite a curiosity because it was one of he very last Superkings issues, quite a scarce model as well.

The RX7 always seemed a bit of an odd scale; small in comparison to the other Superkings, but too big to be displayed with 1/43 stuff.

My brother had the Iveco transporter in Ferrari livery too; wondering if maybe he still has it...

Nice finds, anyway!

A guy at my work asked me if i wanted a box of model cars. Never one to refuse he turned up with them yesterday.

Over 80 cars.....Mrs Doug is so happy for me...

... you know you're going to have to give us a full unboxing now, yeah? That's like a dream come true!

Some fantastic models lurking in there, I'm sure. Loving that Prairie, such an unusual choice of subject.

So cute.

That's really nice... the recent Tomica Premiums have some excellent detail on them.

Do you have many in your collection?

Apart from a few touch ups and finding the offside mirror I'm calling this Autoshite transporter done :)

It started life as a regular Corgi transporter and an Altaya Citroen U55 cattle truck.

This one, 9.99 from ebay:

Then I took it apart and got the hacksaw out.

Chassis shortened and an M4 screw adapted to fit the Corgi trailer mount.

Here's two recent repaints on board.

Here's the left overs to go in the "usefull one day" box.

This is my first Tomica Premium. Sadly, probably going to be my last for a while too. Everything with Premium label is very expensive if you buy them locally, this was given to me as a gift by a mate who was visiting Japan where they're incredibly well priced. (¥600, £4.20) Extremely good value for what they offer in my opinion.

I wanted AE92 Corolla Tomica Vintage Neo (for obvious reason) but the price by now is astronomical even in used condition because it's NLA. I ain't gonna pay £20 for 1:64 no matter how good they are or how much I want them.

I might start buying Majorette and Matchbox as those are also not too expensive and I only wanted shite anyway. I'd quite enjoy feeling like 8yo again.  :D

As for other diecasts, I do have a huge collection of them from years ago. But it's buried deep inside one of these stacked boxes where we store crap. I keep promising myself to dig them out again but keep pushing it. There are some other more recent purchases that I'll probably show later.

Just posted up some Siku stuff on the Miniature tat thread (is anyone still looking at that thread? Or best to post finds here?) and my want for some Siku is very strong.

As a way to not actually help me at all, do any shiters want to post up pics of their Sikus? Must say my prime interest spans up to the early 90's, when they switched from the black wheels with white spokes.

I know that if I see Junkman's collection, particularly his Transits, I'll be greener than all the grass we have round here....

Most of my Siku were passed on to 155V6 and bramz7 earlier in the year, but that might not upset you too much as they were mostly '90s ones. They were really uncommon in my area, and so I never had many of them - most of the below were picked up while on holiday.

One place in Belfast (Leisure World) did start doing the bigger models in the mid-90s, and I really took a shine to the Mercedes Transporter with cars (slightly later than the one for sale, as no R5 or Escort). They were mega-expensive though, easily double the price of their Matchbox equivalents.

You'd asked me upthread if I could upload Siku catalogues from 1987 and 1988 - unfortunately I only have two, from 1981 and 1986. Could photograph the 1986 one for you, if that's any use?

Oooh yes, an '86 catalogue should have plenty of carryover models from 'my' era, so that'd be great! Don't rush though, there's bigger fish to fry in life. I've just paid more than I wanted to for a rather obscure catalogue from another toy brand, which I plan on uploading, when it turns up.

That VW Trekker looks great!  In fact, that Fiesta in your photo looks pretty nice - all of a sudden, I'm seeing the 90's Sikus in a different light, now. Certainly compared to their modern stuff, which is pretty crappy.

I did actually have a few 90's Sikus, including a red 1303 and a white convertible one, both with the earlier wheels. Also had a Fahrschule Mk3 Golf with the modern wheels and I think I also had that turquiose(ish) T4 van, too.

I'm thinking in hindsight that I may bid on one or two of those Sikus on Trademe, certainly if no-one else on here is too fussed on having them in their lives. I'm currently highest bidder on one which has had very few viewings (not from this seller), so I'm hopeful it stays hidden.

When are you going to start selling these AS advent calendars?

Yeah, I really liked that Fiesta - an unusual model of a very common car, and similar to one a friend bought new.

IMG_20170405_202418.jpg

I've decided to look out for a 1/43 Minichamps version, to fit in with the rest of the collection!

Minichamps Ford Fiesta Mk4.jpg

The VW T4 came from a toy shop in Bath around 1992, if memory serves... I especially liked it as it was completely plain. Matchbox and the like always felt a need to plaster commercial vehicles with liveries and logos; this one was just the model. Its realism meant it lived on a railway diorama for many years, so avoided being chucked in the bucket with all my other Matchbox/Corgi/Majorette and stayed reasonably clean!

The Trekker was a 50p charity shop find not that long ago; missing its hood but otherwise ok. The Audi A6 is, I gather, pretty rare in that pale yellow shade but it looked a bit odd and I never warmed to it that much.

But! I'll get that '86 catalogue snapped and posted. Also the couple of Siku that I opted to keep...

Now that would have been a top idea... 24 diecasts of rubbish cars, one behind a door each day, just in time to ship for mid-November... sadly nearly all my minishite has been rehomed, but maybe someone else with a load of so-so Matchbox/Corgi etc may wish to step up...?

OK.  Plan hatched, necessaries in motion.   There will be an announcement forthcoming but not for a while as I do not wish to mention the C word or the D month again for a good few weeks.   Rest assured, there will be an exciting opportunity for all A/S toy-fondlers in a few weeks time.....
