Bunch of stuff on eBay.

If any shiters want to bid and pay a few days after completion that's fine, just let me know.

Argh, that tasty Citroen CX Safari has been winking coquettishly at me since the weekend... I caught myself idly wondering where it might look best in the display cabinet only last night.

I didn't want to jump in straightaway if you weren't 100% sure you wanted to sell it, but... well.

I might well pop a bid in.

I might also be offering up a couple of other models to shiters shortly as part of my newly instigated 'one in, one out' policy...

Tried that policy myself.....It soon changed into a "one in, one out to start a new cabinet" policy.

In fact, here is one I finished knocking up this morning....I got the Tootsietoys (one isn't its another US slush-cast) all together on Ebay along with an early post-war Dinky Salmson roadster for £20.   Cabinet was a quid at a boot sale - I put a piece of Interstate map in the back of it as a slightly hipster touch.

The best part of any cabinet, though, is the space left... .Just enough in this case for another small-scale Tootsietoy.

Some of you here may recall that on Friday, I procured myself a white 1/43 IXO/Altaya/DeAgostini Chinese-made Lada Samara (quite possibly from the celebrated 'Greatest Eastern European Dashcam Accidents' partwork)

Well, the question on virtually no-one's lips is... how well does it stack up against a genuine USSR-built 1/43 Lada Samara?

20180724_213021.jpg

Pre-1991 manufacture date? Deffo authentically Commie.

20180724_212929.jpg

Unfortunately, it does appear from the state of the box that this was smuggled out of the country in someone's pants (not mine, honest), possibly in exchange for some Levis and/or a Scorpions LP.

20180724_212445.jpg

It's more toy than model-like, but proportions are pretty good.

20180724_212752.jpg

Everything opens!

I think that's what attracted me most to Eastern European models.

20180724_212823.jpg

20180724_212529.jpg

Tippy seats and all.

20180724_212850.jpg

Dedication to realism extends to terrible paint and wonky shut lines.

And, against the IXO version...

There's not much in it, really. Similar size, similar lines. The doors on the red one don't shut terribly well, and the lights aren't that great (though not far behind most models from 1990, in fairness).

I'd say the nose of the red one captures the grille and nosecone better than the white example. Only the back end really lets the red one down, with not much detail and that press-fit rear screen.

20180724_213528.jpg

The doormirrors are also bafflingly tiny on the red one, for some reason.

So there we go. I don't need two of them - and I'm trying to focus my collection - so if anyone fancies a bit of Soviet Lada action, the red one could be yours for a paltry £8 posted.

Oooh nice - the flat hub Suburbans are not common either.   My favourite colour for the Riviera - there was  real '63 in gold used to park up the road from my Gran's house, I think it was some fella seeing a chick there as it alternated with a green and white Mk2 Zody with whitewalls and ocelot seat covers.

Here is the ex-Datsuncog Dinky crane, re-tyred and re-strung doing its thing today.....

That looks ace. Funnily enough, it appears rather better with a full complement of tyres!

Well done on getting the jib and winch re-strung too - I'm guessing that was quite a fiddly job, which was why I still hadn't quite got round to it after twenty-odd years...

Loving the backdrop there, as even though the crane's a bit playworn, suddenly it all snaps into focus as a construction scene with well-used machines just getting on with the job in hand.

Brilliant! I can't say it enough, I'm majorly thrilled to see so many of these familiar models off enjoying their new lives in the shiter community, and not just stuffed into attic boxes.

Stopped by a place I've been meaning to investigate for a few months and wasn't disappointed.attachicon.gifIMG_20180725_195331.jpg

Prices weren't bad and I'd been mildly kicking myself for being too slow to get Mr. Cog's Plymouth Suburban. The Riviera was similarly irresistible.

Nice finds! That Suburban's way better than my old one, which had damaged glazing amongst other maladies. Hopefully a few other diecast lovelies will make their way to you in the fullness of time...

Another soon-to-be casualty of the "one in, one out" policy:

Here's an Oxford Diecast Austin J2 Camper in 1/43 scale.

20180724_212306.jpg

20180724_212312.jpg

I bought this directly from Oxford's website around 2007 - it was part of their Roadshow range, which to my knowledge weren't generally available from retailers.

20180724_212235.jpg

20180724_212336.jpg

Limited run of 2000 units.

20180724_212317.jpg

At the time I just really fancied a camper to add to my collection, but there weren't many to choose from.

I really do like this, but I like the Pilote-bodied Citroen C25 from upthread a bit more (and I also have an Oxford 1/76 Austin Paralanian in the smol display case) so... this one may now be ready for re-homing.

Shiter price: £12 posted

In case there's still anyone who's not heartily sick of my sales patter, a few remaining diecast from my grand liquidation sale in May/June are still kicking around - and as always, discount and combined postage applies!

I have the 5 door version of the Commie Samara and it had serious issues, the bonnet hinge turned to powder, and the whole body was covered in microblisters

Knightmare Treguard - Nasty.jpg

Amazingly, this 3-dr version isn't showing any signs of any problems just yet; I've owned it since the late 90s so hopefully it's been from a batch made of slightly more stable Mazak alloy.

I must post up a few pics of my Lada 1500 (VAZ 2103) police car, which off started with the bonnet hinge coming adrift (which I tried and failed to glue) and is now in the advanced stages of metal fatigue with huge cracks opening up in the body...

Assuming, that is, it hasn't transformed itself into dust already! Possibly only a matter of time.

Brilliant eye for realism, the old Russkis. Just like the real thing.

I don't think anyone will be complaining about your sales patter  :-D
