***UPDATE - Grand Prize Competition has now concluded - but stay tuned for more flash giveaways from time to time as I try to comb through dozens of boxes of old models exhumed from the attic!***

Bringing a few of my 1/43s out of long-term storage, to see what might look nice in the display cabinets I'm currently gluing together... the first time some of these have seen the light of day for fifteen years, in some cases.

Just as a giggle, should anyone be stuck for some entertainment this afternoon/evening, try seeing whether you can guess the car represented by each model, as depicted by my fine potatocam, and pm them to me. Additional smug points will be granted to those who can pinpoint the colour and model manufacturer, but will only come into play in the event of a tie break situation. There is some grouping along national boundaries, but quite a few cuckoos in the nest too. We've got 49 there in total - and I'll even give you the first one:

Today I put some colour* on a couple of my stripped models.  Colour* because these two are going to be black.  I haven't decided what colours the others are going to be.  No photos, that'll wait until they're reassembled.

So while I waited for paint to dry I thought I'd nip down to Halfords and lay in a few more colours, the selection I have here being a bit limited.  I duly pottered around the paint aisle, ending up with an armful of cans (four is an armful) and headed for checkout.  Couple waiting ahead of me at checkout, seemed to be returning a satnav or something.  Anyway that took up all the time and ability of the one assistant who was there, to the extent that when he did briefly appear at the checkout, he totally failed to acknowledge me before disappearing off on his quest again.  So I thought "fuck this" and dumped the cans in a handy basket.  You've never seen a Rover 800 leave a retail park so fast.

Of course I still need some paint...

*Cough*

*/cough*

The 1100 looks like it will be massively popular. No confirmed release date but likely to be late 2018 / early 2019 and no set price as yet but again probably slightly more than current Cult prices. Shiters discount will be available though :)

They do some lovely models , you can't buy a Maserati 4200 in 1/18 scale , amazingly nobody makes one , 3200 , quattroporte, granturismo but no 4200 , I keep hoping one of the specialist model makers will produce one

Well done Mr Pin :)

In other news, that paint I failed to buy in Halfords yesterday?  Today after work I strolled the few minutes down the road from the bakery to the local motor-spares shop, and bought six tins of assorted colours from their stock.  Suck that, spotty kid with fancy headset on, while you fail to deal with the satnav couple!  Even got a free carrier bag!  Painting may occur tomorrow, as may more stripping because I've sorted out another batch.

I feel your pain Eddy ive been close to slinging 5 litres of DOT4 across the shop in halfords before, Been one or two times in there you'd have more chance getting served as a fucking spectre! :(

Looking forward to seeing your repaints mate!

Reminds me of me, shopping in Asda....I reckon only 85percent of the time do I actually leave the store with anything.   The other occasions I dump my basket behind the "hand-basket only" till that is more deserted than Morecambe Bay on a wet Sunday and fuck off somewhere else they can bother to serve me.   I don't use that self-scan twattery either.

Keeping the thread on tack, however, I did have to do the walk of shame back to my basket once - there was a Hot Wheels Escort in there amongst the tiger rolls and Marmite.

this morning, i've been and added some more shite to the ever growing line of old diecast vehicles in the house

starting with the Lesney Commer pick-up....

and then a shit CO-OP Commer van, its in horrid condition, but this is going to be the next project to be stripped and repainted, into the Co-op livery similar to the colour scheme that is left on it now. it was part of a gift set with interchangable van backs, it is horrid, but it was cheap and will look better once it gets some fresh paint, the Dodge Space Van's that British Telecom used to use years ago, where those the last versions of one of these vans to be made?

then finally this, an Oldsmobile Super 88, this one cost more than the other two put together by a couple of times in fact, but is in really clean condition. it was a toss up between this and a Mustang Fastback in lilac, with a wee dog on the back parcel shelf, frankly the Olds was in nicer condition, hence why i bought it!

The Co-Op liveried Commer van is quite rare, many get modded into ridiculous "Code 3" examples but that one looks kosher.   The white chassis did feature in the Constructor gift set but not the blue van back - that is specific to the Co-Op issue that also included a variation on the "normal" blue and white milk float.   Olds is very nice and understandably dear but I would have had an even harder job choosing between that and the lilac Mussie which is also uncommon....

I love those 39 series Dinkys.   Good work on the Zephyr, looks lovely.....I always get a twinge when I see these after selling my entire collection off at the end of the 1980s to try and keep a house I eventually lost.   Once my present mortgage is paid off I am spending the same amount on replacing my Dinkies!
