Shite in Miniature II

Gentlemen, SOLD

In the process of moving house I have unearthed a box of old Husky, Corgi Junior, Matchbox and other Unknown makes of vehicle.

As I am not in need of transporting them to the new abode, would anyone of this fine establishment be interested in the lot before they go on the bay of e.

Most have some defect or another and/or have Ben painted at some stage. Therefore I realise I am not going to be able to retire to the sun on the proceeds of these. I don't think they will even reach my petrol money to my new house 15 miles away.

I would prefer pick up but if you would like them posted it will be at cost. It may take a few days to do so as I am in the middle of the move.

Any takers?

PS collection from Lincoln.

SOLD

I really shouldn't have bought this but it stirred something inside me. And I think being on holiday made me a little freer with my money.

We've just had a little tour of the country and I found this in a little second hand emporium off Byres Road in Glasgow.

I sold virtually all my Scalextric before we moved house about five years ago as I had so much I didn't want the hassle of moving with it. But I did keep most of the older cars, they're in a box in the loft. But I think this is something of an icon from what I think of as a classic period of touring cars.

I'd not had any SCX cars before and it's an interesting set up underneath.

With a sort of space frame chassis onto which the body clips and the front wheels are connected to the tongue by a quite delicate steering set up which is all in tact. The whole car looks very lightly used.

I've been very slowly getting the loft in this house more habitable planning to get my railway stuff up and running but having just had a quick look on eBay I see good second hand track is still as cheap as when I sold mine so this has got me thinking.....

I really must dig out my other cars, I think they might go down well here.

I've got that SCX Volvo, had it from new.  It hasn't been run for years, none of my slot cars have.  I've even been building some interesting projects, but those are all stalled too.  It's entirely possible I haven't done anything with them since before we went to Cyprus!  Lazy sod.

Well I'm still sorting out my model display room etc etc ad infinitum and these just sort of got parked for a while until good friend appeared today and magically built two more cabinets for me. Which means that it's just two more cabinets to be built and that will be the end of the cabinet building and I'll just need to sort out what is going where.

In other news last Monday another year went by since I first joined this world and normally I treat myself to something to mark the occasion. That very morning the phone rang and it was a model dealer friend who said he had some good stuff and as he was going to the Doncaster Toyfair would I like him to swing by and admire his wares? Silly question thus on Saturday he duly appeared and this is what I treated myself to. Bad me. I've always wanted the Dinky Bedford pallet lorry and this one is superb with box insert, instructions and the original three pallets. Ouch went the wallet. The other stuff I just liked so they have joined my collection. The 1100 is by Tekno and here's a did you know moment, the 1100 was badged as a Marina in Denmark? Anyway for your delectation or not as the case may be.

That Pallet-Jekta is just superb.   I always wanted one as well - just to see how it worked!    I have an original Danish Morris 1100 Marina brochure somewhere but I think they only used the 1100 designation on the Tekno?   I managed to get a nice Tekno Oxford at Beaulieu for a good price last year but I think the 1100 will have to wait!

What's the Flaminia Coupe - Solido?

Putting your collection out on shelves will, I am sure, be an extreme pleasure!

Cheers, the Pallet truck is pretty rare and very hard to find in this condition. The Tekno 1100 does have a Marina decal on the boot but I guess they may have described it as an 1100 in the catalogue. I have two of them now but still haven't acquired the MG version. I also have two Oxfords so good find for you at Beaulieu. The 911 is also Danish, it was made by Kirk who I believe were bought by Tekno.

The Flaminia is indeed Solido, has a crack in the screen but other than that it's good and I can't remember seeing a two tone one before.

I have put a fair few into the other cabinets but it's not that organised really so I'll have to work out some kind of themes. I'm thinking that three cabinets will have more American stuff and one might have racing saloons. Got other themes sort of going in the six cabinets in the middle of the room. Will be fun though.

A bloke I've been on and off friends with all my life , fell on hard times about 30 years ago, and my Dad , diecast collector,  gave him 30 bob for all his childhood Dinky toys...mostly beat up... hence only 30 bob !!  Anyway , I ended up with them a couple of years ago ... and  restored and repainted this Big Bedford . I  did mention to my mate I now had them and had done one up, in fact ,I rang him to ask if it was a Tomato Ketchup or Bake beans version originally , as I was ordering new decals !! He said he would love to see it and hold it again after so many years and regretted parting with them as he now had nothing left  from his childhood ..

When i showed it to him ,he almost cried ...said it was just like it was when he got it for Xmas  ...Opened the back doors ,and said he used to hide his " precious finds"  inside there, so his older brothers wouldn't steal them from him...Bear in mind we were both pretty poor . Finding a Whites lemonade bottle and getting 12 pence deposit return was a fortune to us !!!   He said it was a delight to hold it and would love to have it back... but i told him to  " Piss off, they'e all  mine now.."
