Datsuncog
Took a quick dash through Home Bargains last night and happened across a shelf of 1/43 Solido Lancias retailing at £2.99 a pop - four different models, each in a presentation tin. Looked to include some sort of pre-war model (Aprilia?), a 50s Aurelia, a 90s Lybra and the late 90s Dialogos concept car. Had a quick rummage in case there was maybe a Beta or Trevi lurking, but all just seemed to be the same four. Nabbed the Lybra which, on comparison, turns out to be the same casting used on a cheap Majorette toy version about fifteen years back, but with much more detail added (decent wheels and mirrors, separate doorhandles, wipers etc). It's a nicely done model, especially at the price. There were some quite decent 1/24 Fiat Doblo models too, but that's not really a scale I collect these days. Anyway. Just a heads-up in case anyone fancies their luck in their nearest branch! They were down in the toy section, but probably won't hang around for long. eddyramrod and Junkman

Split_Pin
I used to use steel wool but it was messy and it was hard to get a decent finish back to be able to repaint it.
quicksilver
Is there any way to remove model paint (presumably enamel) from a plastic kit?I haven't tried it myself but I'm told Dettol or Fairy Power Spray will remove paint from plastic. Spottedlaurel
Is there any way to remove model paint (presumably enamel) from a plastic kit? I've used brake fluid in the past. It even gets through thick, brush-painted enamel and doesn't seem to attack the plastic. I left one shell in it for weeks and it was OK. A bit of help might be needed from an old toothbrush to get it out of grooves, recesses etc. I used an old foil food container to put it in, then shut it in a cupboard out the way of kids and cat. In other news, it's the Stowmarket Railway Club toy fair at Needham Market tomorrow. Got a few good things there last year, fingers crossed this year will be fruitful...... Felly Magic
You might spot that 604 again in the car park, can't go this year due to a lack of funds, plus the Mondongo is VOR with a broken fuel pump

Split_Pin
5 1/24 cars bought from our own MK2_Craig recently. I always wanted these ones as a kid back in the 1980s but never had enough pocket money, although I did get the Volvo 740 estate in about 1989 for my birthday which I still have. The Fiat Regata is a hard one to find and I've never seen the Y10 before either. srad34, mercrocker, 59Impala and 4 others
Felly Magic
I built the kit version of the 190E, and modded it, using a Fujimi rear spoiler from the 190E kit, and some of the transfers, it looked like a tacky dealer special edition in doom blue called a ROMBO
sierraman
I've got the Regatta and and the 190E. The Regatta happens to be a really good model, got mine while on holiday in Filey in 1990.
Split_Pin
Yeah the Regatta is superb, the badges and plastic door mouldings are well executed.I also have the 1/43 scale example ehich I bought from Eddyramrod. It has just occured to me that about two thirds of my Bburago collection has come from fellow shiters! Felly Magic and eddyramrod
Felly Magic
That White-hen looks good too, I do like Bburagos & Polistils from this era, would have a few myself again, but no room to display em, I have the partwork 1/24 scale Sierra Sappy Cossie that I got from Lobster of this parish, and it's just sat in a cupboard, might put it up for sale/swap soon
Spottedlaurel
An interesting selection there. Wheels on the R4 and Regata look similar to those on the Bburago Tipo I bought in France (that one is shortly off to a new owner, when I get round to packing it up). Today's purchases: Sadly nothing to add to my boxed Superfast collection, the tidy MG 1100 was the closest I got. I was pleased with the Majorette artic. Its not perfect, but it wasn't much money and is a Saviem for added French-ness. It'll go nicely with the pair of Scanias I already have. Felly Magic
I watch a Canadian bloke on Youtube that has a diecast collection to die for, he has shedloads of those Majorette trucks, he goes under the name wtffor, loving those purchases, the Needham toyfair is always good I think
Split_Pin
I love those Saviems. I have the Solido version with a Club of 4 Cab. As far as I can recall, all Bburagos in the 1980s had the same style of sculptured plastic wheel in varying sizes. The very basic early 9100 series got yellow items like my MK1 Golf and Metro have and the rest got chrome jobs. The early wheels had a tendancy to slip over the ends if the axles after extended play. The R4 was like that but a blob of superglue sorted it. What I love about Bburagos in particular, in addition to their charming crudeness, is the fact that the plastic parts drop off if you look at them but the bodyshells are FREAKISHLY strong. Felly Magic
And they come to bits easily for respraying! Surprisingly, an old 131Mirafiori I had that I stripped to bare metal and selling ended up going back to Italy, this was the earlier standard casting, with opening bonnet & boot, not the 2 door Birdbath rally car. Loved Bburagos when the kits were £4.99 at Beatties for the 1/25 & 1/25 stuff, used to buy em 2 at a time.
Felly Magic
I'd love to get my hands on a Polistil mk1 Fiesta in 1/25 scale tbh at sensible cash, one complete but with slightly rough paint, as I'd respray it to look like a Ghia with BVR
