It's actually a Politoys Alfa 105, had it from new. The Ford Osi I bought recently from Ebay (which I cannot get to open today for some reason) and it was about 20 quid mint and boxed. Foreign models were really hard to find and expensive back in the 60's and early 70's, I remember that my local model raceway shop, Eltham Models, had quite a few but they were about three or four times the price of a Dinky so I really had to save to buy one. I also recall a family day trip to Calais and I bought quite a few French Dinky, Norevs etc and sort of smuggled them back into Blighty much to my mum's concern.

Funnily* enough it was the other way around where I grew up. Corgis and Dinkys were expensive, but the French, Italian and German stuff cost nothing.

However, since I was only ever interested in GB wares and yanks back then, I have precious little euro chod.

When I was 15 or so, I flogged all my 1/43 stuff at a few toy fairs and started to import 1/25 scale septic plastic.

So that was ca 1980, exactly when the US kit industry nosedived. Perfect timing, as usual.

I share the pain of sold collections.....They cost a hell of a lot more to replace 25 years hence.   Nothing I now own is for sale.  Period.

I sold the majority of my American plastic kits earlier this year. It was the most liberating feeling I ever had.

I'm now contemplating to sell more. Much more.

We would all be dribbling wrecks seeing that lot, it is pure, unadulterated diecast pornography.

We would definitely need our photo ID checked at the door!  And probably be frisked on the way out!

I've gone and bought that Airfix Quickbuild VW T1 Camper, it's not too bad, has an opening engine cover, sad bit, bloody stickers were missing, one phone call to Hornby, and an apologetic gent in the technical dept says a set will be in the post to me. Bizarrely though it is left hand drive, but with right hand drive side door set up, and you can build it with the suspension at 2 heights for that slammed pineapple look
