  1. Past hour
  2. More likely it's already broken down & she's alighted for shame I mean safety.
  3. £3575 with shite paint and slipping autobox. Can these be easily manual swapped? Given values now, might be worthwhile.... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1659533927912565/
  4. imported 914 with 'wiring issues', still a cheap way into a shite Porker at £8,995 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/424331400282169/
  5. No should have radio/speaker & I think a small cubby hole there.

  7. Round my way, near Falkirk, people drive like arrogant swines. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the only car that easily gets a regular car the fuck away from my tail is the Saab. That has 220bhp and an adequate 360nm of torque. I think 0-60 is somewhere around just below 7 seconds. I really have to gun it as well although it is immensely satisfying to see these arseholes floundering behind in their Mokkas and 316ds. The A4 with about 140bhp also has plenty of torque to keep other drivers away as do the 75 and A8 but you have to work them. My preferred option is just to take my foot off the accelerator. If they are so close that I can't even see their headlights in my mirror then I might as well be going slow when they inevitably smash into me when I have to brake sharply to avoid something. So I'd say anything above 150bhp if sufficient for today's roads filled with showers of bastards.
  8. Kwal-itee motah them's was There's a huge knob (fnar) for the choke there, brilliant design - if anyone tries to slide across the front seats to get out the opposite door then their knee will just snap that right off. Ask me how I know.
  9. Just done my shopping in Sainsburys . Leg of lamb, beef joint, loads of veg, big jar of gold blend and a few other bits and pieces. First they sent me a £4 off coupon if you spent £30. Then some silly nectar points prices (15p for some veg), followed by 20% staff discount for the bank holiday. Then found out my nectar card ( rescued from filler spreading duty) had £25 on it. Total spend just over £2. What cost of living crisis?
  10. PHWOAR! Is that bit of timber on the dash standard fit?
  11. My daily is an 87 Scirocco with 75bhp, 125 torks and about 850kg. At 75mph it's doing 3,000rpm in 5th, but its maximum speed is only about 100mph in 4th. I like it.
  12. Is there a mode of transport that is worse than trains? I haven't been on one for years and today is reminding me why

  15. I didn’t actually kill this one! I sold it to a Polish guy and I believe it got exported. I had that mapped and it was rapid.
  16. Fair enough…… does make me mad that manufacturers wilfully make sure that the poor sod who buys relatively modern stuff gets stiffed with ridiculous maintenance costs……
  17. Hopefully I'm not having to think about stripping paint today, just final detailing of the Fairlady ZG build: I'm at home in the daylight, it's a Bank Holiday and I want a day off from work and 'stuff', so it's time to get on with foiling the window trims. With a new blade in the knife, Tamiya mini swab for burnishing and some patience...... Not a job I look forward to, but it is satisfying once done. Arguably it shouldn't be a full chrome trim, more of an insert within black rubber, but that wouldn't be easy on this kit. Tamiya have engineered their recent version of the same car so it can be done properly. I might paint black on the vertical part down to the glass, or it maybe just not bother - to the naked eye, and not when viewed through the lens, it looks OK. I forgot abut painting the rear panel when I did the arch flares the other weekend, so I had more masking and spraying to do. With the lights fitted it's starting to come together. I'm hoping to complete it this weekend, then I can start Tamiya's version which I'm going to fit with a Nissan RB engine.

  19. That one is also still there (handy for wheelchairs - maybe a bit steep)?) The police stables in Great Scotland Yard have their ramp internal to the building - I saw it when it was being renovated around 1994 - all the stables there are on the first floor- (allegedly) in case of flooding. I worked around Central London 1981 - 1997 and, now, regret the fact that I didn't give a tinker's cuss for any of the history of where I was working - that era seems to have slipped from history - too young to have been properly curated and too old to have hit the internet/digital camera age. A lot of the buildings have been demolished, often re-demolished in the property treadmill that we seem to have as an economy these days.
  20. I've bought the replacement (Borg & Beck) clutch cable via eBay. The item was marked as dispatched yesterday afternoon so it may well arrive tomorrow, in time for me to fit it on Sunday / Monday. Things didn't go according to plan today. I wedged a piece of roofing batten between the clutch pedal and the seat (with plenty of padding on the seat end). Then, I wedged another piece of wood between the clutch arm and bellhousing. With the clutch pedal released, unhooking the end of the clutch cable was easy. With the clutch cable slack, I pressed on the clutch pedal and the quadrant clicked several times and reset itself to this position. This makes me think that the quadrant is working ok. Unhooking the end of the clutch cable from the quadrant was easy. But removing the plastic fitting that forms part of the clutch cable from the metal sleeve that passes through the bulkhead caused a problem. The plastic bit snapped, leaving a seized piece inside the sleeve. Bugger. No amount of poking with a screw driver made any difference. The back of the sleeve is inaccessible from inside the car. I had no choice, I had to cut the cable. My wife came to the rescue. She was keeping the cable still whilst I cut the end of the metal cable with an angle grinder. With the cable removed, I drilled the remaining piece of plastic from the sleeve. I had it out within 2 minutes. The only marking on the old clutch cable is a number "37". Not sure what it means. With the old clutch cable destroyed, I couldn't do anything else today. Also, the gap in the side of the cable adjustor bolt that I bought yesterday is too narrow for the clutch cable to pass through. I may have to source a bigger and more robust one. More updates once I get my hands on the new clutch cable.
  21. Horse ramp for getting the horses off. The one in Deptford still survives and is Grade II Listed. You, or indeed your horse, can still use it.
  22. This. Also why the 75/ZT got the 1.8 turbo but not the VVC It was a light pressure turbo that was designed to be fairly lazy and cheaper on company car costs than the 2.0 V6
