This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. We've got several horse chestnut trees, at least 2 of which we believe to be over 200 years old. They're a complete pain with all the sticky bits that drop off, followed by the conkers which can do some damage if they've come from the top of the tree. But they're part of the garden and provide homes for squirrels and birds so will stay.
  3. Anyway had an hour spare between child activities tonight so had a quick bash at the seats. They were quite rank. Didn't really have the best selection of equipment, a hand brush and some sort of car shampoo in cold water, plus a wet vac. They've come up better but there are definitely some stains that need doing again.
  4. No Lammy updates for now but just spotted this on Tippers Twixxer page. Interesting to see the age of some of the vehicles they're producing plates for. Several reregistered vehicles too, presumed plate raped. On a different note, bit of a GDPR issue by showing the customer's name, registration and reference number I'd have thought...
  5. A box arrived yesterday containing some bargainous Lone Star Flyers Corsair & Jag are complete, just have some chips Alfa Spider just missing the steering wheel Lotus Europa had a wheel issue I had this though,so easily fixed Lastly, the Ford Taunus which is really nice, but it does have a slight issue I have a plan for that though........
  6. They are a bit more rot prone than average but not in the Mk1 Golf league. They were awful up to 1980, then VW discovered cavity wax and seam sealer.
  7. Are those screws holding the grille on? They don't look standard to me.
  8. I think it's definitely different from the Mini. Q&H QSK95 if you can still find it.
  9. 200+ year old oak tree which is protected by a TPO apparently should be removed because it casts a shadow. Might as well chop down all trees, just to be thorough.
  10. Went for my first spin in it. Wouldnt idle- noticed a split vacuum hose to the dizzy, which once sorted helped a lot; it seemed to also need a fair bit of choke. Its got an MOT currently so wonder if they leaned it off for a pass? So i ticked it a bit richer. After i got to a petrol station and added some fresh pez it ran better still. I think it probably still need needs a proper service and tune up but its running really nicely now…..
  11. Still, better than welding the bastard up every other MOT which would have been my life if I kept the previous 2004 Vito.
  12. Yeah the van is a 2010 with the OM651 engine so probably the same. It's on 197k, I got it on 190. The chain was noisy on startup so I put the revised tensioner in which quietened it down at startup. The van man said then he reckoned he could hear the chain but I couldn't so opted to not spend a grand or whatever it would be at random. I was considering not doing it to try and keep the bill down but it's only going to add maybe £3-400 while the engine is out so it's getting done. Seems like all the manufacturers went down the "Shimano 9-speed" route for camchains as well as putting them at the back of the engine around the same time, I hope whoever signed off on that shit got fired out of a cannon when they started going ping.
  13. Honda Melody followed soon after by a Mk1 Fiesta. T plate. Girlfriends prior to that one didnt drive. That one ended up as my wife. Still is.
  14. First girlfriend had a P reg Peugeot 106 in Alpine White. At the time I had a P reg Peugeot 306 in Alpine White. Many amusing photos of the two cars "little n large" were taken. Second girlfriend had a Daewoo Matiz with a massive dent in the offside rear door. I found a matching door in a scrappy for £15 and swapped it over in about half an hour, improving the appearance of the car by an order of magnitude and also her gratitude towards me. I then dated a couple of women who didn't drive / didn't have cars, then about 8 years ago I must have become as attractive as a dose of ebola overnight as I've been single since! Ah well.
  15. Some on here would struggle to keep it down at the thought of a Fiat Tipo for £2500!
  16. Hers: Ovlov 340 4 door saloon His : Ovlov 340 2 door hatch Both cars were (entirely by coincidence) stopgaps. Both cars were true shitemobiles and were independently bridged within our first year together. He got a V8 RR with mild HGF which became hers after the 340 died. He then dailied his 34 year old LR until the chassis finally crumbled.
  17. Today
  18. Needs the same salvaged raised digit number plates as what the Rolls Royce was treated to.
  19. Today I raised the Maestro into service position, my thinking being that I want to check for coolant leaks. I pressurised it again with my useful special tool, and it's still behaving the same way - pump to 13psi, then pressure slowly drops to 12psi and stays there. I'm going to leave it overnight and see if it drops. Anyway my thinking was that if I can get underneath with the coolant system pressurised, I should be able to spot any leaks in the system. Not a sausage. I did spot some rusty fuel hoses though so I gave them the treatment ending in some Rust Anode paint stuff. And I put the summer wheels on...
  20. Seeing @Essex V6's new purchase reminded me I saw a Tesla today with the 3 letters 'FFS' in the reg.
  21. 🤣 Until you mentioned it I forgot that car even existed.

  23. VERY RARE FORD CAPRI 1976 MK11 1.3L | eBay Thing of absolute beauty that. 'Legendary 1.3 Cross flow'
  24. Fuck me sideways, the job I was on yesterday was a blast... 'Can I plug it back in? I have work to do...' 'Ol' mate fix` 'It's fine, just don't unplug it...' 'Insert screwdriver here for a good time...' I give up.
  25. You are very welcome to use it, it's the Wye Knots, at Newton Court, Leominster.
